YIXING CLAY TEAPOT Also known as a Zisha Teapot from YIXING, China
This is a vintage previously owned handmade clay teapot. It’s made by using slab building techniques rather than a pottery wheel measures 8 inches across from spout to handle 4 1/2 inches across the other way and it’s approximately 4 inches high. It’s hard to measure. Made from unique, unglazed Yixing clay, rich in iron, which is believed to enhance the flavor of tea. The unglazed clay is porous, absorbing the aroma and flavor of teas brewed in it over time. It is recommended to dedicate one teapot to one type of tea. • I believe to say that this teapot has not been used for tea because there’s no staining or anything like it being it says it’s so absorbent. but I cannot guarantee that. There is etching of flowers. It looks like it’s hard to tell on one side and on the other side it has some Chinese writing I assume. Very collectible.
